I really like both of them..hmm also now I am wondering if the hands could be somehow the eyelid/s..I like how they look like an iconic clock as well..wondering also if with those hands about how much abstraction you have the ability to pack in there with the hour and minute..very cool stuff!! I like the idea of having an independent symbol..very standalone-ish.
Yeah a mark can be separate from the logotype, which is how I often do it. I thought of doing simple, easy to read marks that could still be recognizable even as a 16x16 favicon, as with my own logo/site. I had like a million ideas and these were the two the allotted time allowed.
